Dynamic Planner has appointed Abhi Chatterjee as its new Head of Asset and Risk Modelling.

Abhi will head up Dynamic Planner’s Asset and Risk Modelling team underneath new Proposition Director Chris Jones, who joined the business earlier this year in July from Intrinsic.

Chris said: “One of the most exciting discoveries on joining Dynamic Planner was the depth and quality of the technical and academic capability of the team lead. This appointment empowers Abhi to develop the team and this part of the proposition, to serve our clients and their customers and meet their evolving needs.”

Abhi first joined Dynamic Planner in May 2016 having previously led investment risk and qualitative research teams at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, Invesco and the BT Pension Scheme. He has also managed money for hedge funds and has a PhD in quantitative finance from the University of Reading, where he retains close relationships

He said: “The social aspect of what we do and ultimately offer end investors at Dynamic Planner is actually helping people on the street ensure suitability of investment. The Asset and Risk Modelling team is an exciting place to be right now.

“We are taking risk assessment techniques which used to be employed only in large investment houses and applying them independently on behalf of our clients. It takes a lot of development, new ideas and responsibility to get it right. As a team and as a business, we’re hugely motivated by the challenge.”

Dynamic Planner’s Asset and Risk Modelling team began life 13 years ago in 2005. Today, they profile more than 1,200 investments from more than 120 investment managers each quarter. They are responsible for Dynamic Planner’s asset allocation and its risk model, and as market leaders are paving the way in the rise of the sector.

In July this year, the FCA adopted Dynamic Planner’s asset allocation criteria in its Investment Platforms Market Study Interim Report, to assess current model portfolio risk in the industry.
